Austin Food - Phil's Ice House

Happy Sunday, loves.  I hope you are soaking up the last afternoon of an amazing weekend! I'm spending this afternoon under a blanket on a very comfy couch listening to a football game, thinking about house projects, and drifting in a out of a nap...which feels pretty darn good. It's just hard to beat the intoxicating calm from a Sunday afternoon nap. And the little part of me that feels bad for being so lazy is kept at bay after I sprinkle in thoughts about what house projects we will accomplish before Spring; planning is half the battle, right?  While most of the weekend was spent in this lazy state, I did manage to try a new Austin restruant that turned out to be a real gem.

Phil's Ice House has been around for a few years and was founded by the owners of the Austin staple, Amy's Ice Cream.  Their flagship location is based out of an old gas station off of Burnet road and has nothing but charm.  Their menu is predominately hamburgers, which I hear from my husband are some of the best in Austin.  I tried their grilled chicken sandwich and it was amazing; full of savory flavor balanced with a sweet honey bun.  And if you enjoy fries with your sandwich I would recommend ordering a mix of original and sweet potato. While we enjoyed our food we watched a boat load of laughing kids run all around the playground which is surrounded by outdoor tables.  It is defiantly a perfect spot for a causal weekend lunch on a beautiful Austin day.  And when you are done with your burger, you can head next door to order a cone of Amy's Ice Cream.

If you are in Austin and in need a good lunch spot, check out Phil's.
