Friday Favorites

Time for Friday Favorites!

1. The Makings of a Great Weekend: As you know, Christmas has been on my mind lately, but the Austin weather(I wore shorts last weekend) has been making it hard to get into my holiday pants.  Then Mark Murray(our long time weather man) made my week on Monday when he said an arctic blast was headed our way.  I've been glued to the forecast all week to make sure he didn't jinx it, and sure enough Austin will be in the 40's for the next few days.  Shut the font door, board up the windows, start the fire, and spike the hot coca, cause this little family will be enjoying this perfect weather in their P.J.s with a few holiday movies.  I'm giddy excited (which makes Tanner nervous) for 5 o'clock!

2. Holiday Celebration at Work: Each Thanksgiving my company hosts a potluck for all the employees. It's such a fun time for everyone to come together and visit away from the normal work conversations.  So grateful to work at a place that supports a great company culture! The only thing that is troublesome is fighting the Thanksgiving hang-over at my desk, vs on the couch where I usually do...

3. Surprise Pie: My contribution to the previously mentioned Thanksgiving Potluck was a Pumpkin Pie.  I was going to make the same pie I did last week, but that meant I had to go to the grocery store.  That actually didn't happen until last night, so I decided I would instead purchase one.  But then I forgot to do that until about 10:30 the night before. Last resort was to wake up early and go to the store before work...which is a complete hassle.  As I was rushing to get ready, TV called and said he forgot a few things and was coming back home to get them and wondered if I would cut him a few pieces of banana bread for road. When I met him at the door with the bread, he had a pumpkin pie in his hands...I almost cried.  So blessed to have someone who show's me self-less acts of kindness.

4. Fancy Truffles: This week we went to an art show for my mother-in-law, and had a great time visiting and seeing a few of her new pieces.  This said art show happened to be at the same location where Austin Truffle Co. is located...and let me tell you we walked away with a few of their amazing pieces.  If you live in Austin, you must go visit them.  I'm sure they are all good, but I'm in love with the toffee and pecan...goodness!

5. Home Maintenance: This confirms that I am getting old, and own a home. The last few months we have been taking it easy on the house improvement front, but the bug is back and it is strong.  I thought I would ease Tanner into it by doing a little maintenance; first thing on my list was touching up the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Check. Next will be the doors, and base boards.  Maybe it is my OCD coming out, but it makes me strangely happy to see a fresh coat of paint on these things...

Should I be concerned that 3 of  my 5 have to do with food...Tanner and I are itching to get home to start our Winter weekend. What are yall's weekend plans?  I sure hope you have a wonderful one!!
