A D.I.Y. For Summer Ready Skin

With summer just around the corner most of us are making sure to visit that place called the gym, watching what we eat, and preparing our skin for the bare style of shorts, swimsuits, and sandals. I’m a big fan of anything that brings life and that “healthy glow” to my skin in the summer; it pretty much resembles Gollum after hiding behind clothes all winter.

Sorry, moving on.  Two of my go-to products to help with this are body scrubs, and Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer.  Exfoliation is so important in our humid summers when lotion, sunscreen, and sweat build up.  It also makes spray tans and tinted moisturizer set with an even tone and last longer.  So, in the spirit of summer skin, I thought I would share a little D.I.Y. on body scrubs.

This weekend my sweet sister, Madalyn, brought us two different versions she made which are divine.  One is more coarse and should be used on feet, stomach, legs, arms, and elbows.  The other is more gentle and can be used on the face, chest, and arms.  Both are easy to make and modify to fit your preference on fragrance and oils.

Lavender Coconut Sugar Scrub
For Face, Chest & Lips

1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
1 Cup Granulated Sugar
1/3 Cup Fine Sea Salt
2 Tablespoons Jojoba Oil
5 Drops Lavender Essential Oil

Warm coconut oil in a small saucepan over low heart until it is in liquid state.  Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then add to the sugar and salt mixture. Lastly add the jojoba oil and lavender oil and mix well.

Honey Brown Sugar Scrub
For Legs, Stomach, Feet, Arms, and Elbows
2 Cups Brown Sugar
1/4 Cup Sea Salt
1/2 Cup Olive Oil
1/4 Cup Honey
1 Tsp. Vanilla

In a bowl add all ingredients and stir until they are fully mixed.

You can store both of these scrubs in air tight contains, and remember their is oil in both scrubs that will make surfaces slipper.

These are a few more recipes I found on Pinterest that look great!

Hope you enjoy! Cheers to glowing skin!
