Weekend Recap

Oh, Monday.  Why must you come and take us away from such a nice weekend?  I'm using this post as a way to get through the Monday blues.

Our weekend started with a surprise birthday party for a grand friend, whom I tried to avoid speaking to during the week for fear I might say something to ruin the plans.  Luckily nothing bad escaped my mouth,  and the party was a success; she was more than surprised.

We left dinner and headed straight to the country.  My sister-in-law and grandy joined us for a little time out of the city which was beginning to fill with SXSWers.   We spent Saturday open-air driving, filling feeders, and keeping our eyes open for the treasure of a dropped shed antler.  We also spent a little time trying out our shooting skills with a few new toys.  Who knew continuous firing at an empty bag could be so fun!  We decided to have dinner in town on the square.  The food was fried, and the tea was sweet.  Why does soul food seem to taste better in the comfort of an old booth in a country kitchen?

The sky spent most of the day threatening us with rolling clouds and rain drops, but it was kind enough to let us play.  After dinner all bets were off, and it was ready to let loose.  We made it home just in time to make drinks and watch the thunder and lighting roll in through the Hill Country.  We opened the door to let the smell of rain fill the house. The night was filled with a fierce game of Uno and "ping-ping" noise of big drops on the tin roof.

I'm very thankful for a neat place to spend the weekend, and good family and friends to share the time.  I hope yall had a great weekend; full of thoughts that will get you through this week!
