D.I.Y. Bathroom - Making It Functional

As mentioned Wednesday, our bathroom needs a little organizational overhaul until it under goes plastic surgery. So what better time for a little D.I.Y. to help with just that.

For round one, my main focus was on creating a more functional space for my under-sink cabinet, as well as an ascetically pleasing display for the counter. I found a few great counter display ideas with cake stands, and tiered plates that I loved.  However, while these are so delicate and sweet, I didn't feel like they would allow me to store as much as I needed to right now.  (But later down the road when we have more cabinet storage, this will likely be my choice) What I landed on was a shelf and tray combination, and so far I'm loving it!

I always want things to look pretty, but that took a back seat to functionality for the situation under my sink and in our drawer.  Ladies it was bad. I'm embarrassed to show you the before picture. Every day was like a scavenger hunt to find what I needed.  But not anymore!  I had a coupon to BBB and found a two shelving systems and a lazy Suzanne.  Once all assembled I found that only one of the shelving units worked under my sink. But all I can say is is,  "Thank you triple B for the help!"

A little organization can take a girl a long way.  Or maybe it can just take an OCD girl a long way.  In any case it feels good to have a place for the little items I use every morning and night.

Happy Saturday!

  1. You definitely inspired me ... I just need school to be over so I can dig into some house projects :)

  2. This is awesome! I am about to move into a new place with a MUCH smaller bathroom, and these tips with definitely help me!
I am a new follower and I just love your blog :)

  3. Time to buy some baskets! I live in apartments meant for students, so they are tiny. I think you just gave me some motivation to clean clean clean!

  4. Looks great! I'm OCD too so I love your before and after pictures!:)

  5. There are several people who assume that you must change around a whole bathroom for this to truly be called a remodeling job. Yes, remodeling projects are frequently associated with large changes, but small jobs also can be considered remodeling projects. bathroom remodeling ciytname

  6. A chest of drawers or corner table with scented candles, aromatherapy oils or flowers will really bring the room to life. As a finishing touch an old style set of weighing scales, a large framed mirror or bulky traditional radiator will give the room that cozy old-fashioned feel.
